My Liberty Experience + BIG Announcement //

by - 3:20 PM

So remember that little teaser at the end of last week's post about an announcement?? HAS IT BEEN DRIVING YOU CRAZY? (Looking at you, Ju. xD)

If not . . . OH WELL. You're finding out the news anyway.

So. *grins* The announcement is . . .

. . .

. . .

KEEP SCROLLINGGGG

Almost. There.

I got a full-tuition scholarship to my DREAM SCHOOL!!!!

YES IT'S TRUE. So you guys know that I'm going to college. I've already said that much. But what I haven't told you is that I got a full-tuition scholarship to the school of my dreams.

I've been wanting to go to Liberty University ever since . . . well, forever. We visited for the first time two years ago, and I fell in love.

Fast forward to early 2017. I had finished the PSAT at this point and just taken the SAT for the last time (hallelujah). I spent SO MUCH time working on test prep - and let me tell you, it was like torture. :P I was trying for National Merit finalist or commended status (that means either a full-ride or full tuition scholarship to Liberty) so that meant my scores had to be higher than they were the first time.

Well, I did pretty well on the SAT . . . but it wasn't enough.

Or so we thought.

Honestly, I didn't think it was good enough. I thought it was over. I had tried really hard, but there was just no way I was getting the scholarship. Without the scholarship, I wouldn't be able to go to Liberty. (Because NEWS FLASH: it costs too much $$$)

But God had other plans.

GUYS. There is NO OTHER WAY to explain this. God gave me this scholarship. When I got the email saying I had gotten the scholarship, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a miracle, through and through.

I know this might seem boring or lame (AND YES IT'S TOTALLY UNRELATED TO BOOKS, I KNOW), but this is a big deal for me. It's just astounding to me how gracious God is.

This is such a blessing. Sure, I put years of work into the PSAT/SAT, but I couldn't have done this on my own. God is so good! Truly.

You see, I went to CFAW (College for a Weekend) last November at Liberty, and I very clearly felt God calling me to go there. It felt like home to me. I knew that's where God wanted me. But there was one teensy weensy problem: we couldn't afford it.

The day after we got back GUESS WHAT I GOT?? An email saying that I had gotten the scholarship. I mean wow. How could I possibly explain this except God's grace?

I'll say it again because I MEAN IT: God. is. so. good.

2017 was a rough year for my family, but in the midst of the trials, God showed us light. He gave us something lovely and incredible and miraculous. I don't know, guys - I'm just continually astounded by Him.

SO. A little more about CFAW - besides clearly feeling God's calling, I just had a general blast of a time. Oh my word.

- My first hockey game and football game. Um . . . so I'm not sporty at all?? Believe it or not, this weekend was my first time seeing a football or hockey game. I admit, I would probably not have gone of my own volition, haha. But I met an awesome girl named Abby (seriously, she's 100% the sweetest human being ever) at CFAW and she convinced me to go with her.

And . . . I actually had a good time.

Granted, this isn't something I would do on a regular basis, but I actually really enjoyed myself! I had no clue what was happening in the hockey game. and it was also like WAY MORE VIOLENT than I expected but oddly entertaining? I don't even know. xD It was legit freezing at the football game, but again . . . really fun. *shrugs*

- I saw my first theatre production. AHHHHHHHH. How did I function without theatre in my life? I MEAN REALLY. It. was. amazing.

I'm officially hooked on theatre music now, guys.

Liberty has an incredible theatre program on campus, and they are so professional. They blew me away. My mom and I went to see "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and OH GOSH. It was hilarious, engaging, masterfully-done, and just . . . incredible. I LOVED IT SO MUCH. <333

(Just a note, though: I wouldn't recommend the movie at all - I couldn't stand that - but the theatre music is incredible. You should give it a listen. *wink*)

- Went iceskating + froze to death + had a generally lovely time. It was so cold there (like in the 20s) and I was horrendously uunderpreparedin my light jacket. :P But I went iceskating with friends I met there, and I had Starbucks hot chocolate, and we just had a jolly good time together. I didn't expect to really meet anyone, but Abby and I hit it off really well and we ended up meeting a couple other fabulous people that we hung out with. SO MUCH FUN.

- The atmosphere was . . . everything. I don't know how to describe it. Everyone was really nice (well, except for people who didn't their coffee that morning - just kidding ;)) and on fire for God. I could tell they were living out an authentic faith, and that was the most important thing. I went to a worship concert they had one night and I felt the Holy Spirit moving so strongly. Wow. THAT'S why I'm going to Liberty. The atmosphere. The passion for Christ.

It's something you don't find very often at a college, and it's something I want to define my young adult years. I'm completely sold on Liberty.

I know this was different from my normal posts (it's rambly, life-related, and probably boring BUT I DON'T CARE). This is just something special that I wanted to share with you all. And it's pretty exciting news. ;)

Oh, and one other thing. Have I mentioned what degree I'm doing? THAT'S LIKE A WHOLE 'NOTHER STORY. But the short answer: photography. I'm kinda excited. *grins* (Like I said, it's a long story . . . if you're interested, I might post about it sometime before I go off to college. Because I was super stressed about what degree I was doing, but again, God worked it all out. I really need to chill out sometimes. xD)

AHH THE SECRET IS OUT: I'm going to Liberty this fall!! Not going to lie, the thought of going to college is pretty freaky - but I have no worries about the college I'm going to. I truly feel called to go to Liberty, and I'm in awe of the miraculous hand of God working it all out. <3
