A U T U M N Update // First Time Driving + Secret Project + NaNo?

(Hello, yes, I'm totally not ignoring life's problems and homework by posting. *cough*)

HAPPY OCTOBER, WORLD! *throws leaves in the air unceremoniously* One of my favorite months of the year has dawned, and I honored it accordingly on my other blog.

There's been a loooot of stuff happening in my life lately, and I really didn't know what else to do except shout that out to the world so...yeah. Typical Mary logic. *nods*

I recently got a tripod for my camera (!!!!) so I was able to actually give you a decent quality video for once. (Well, it was SUPPOSED to be good quality, but for some reason, it doesn't look that great now in Google Drive? I spent SO long trying to upload it differently, but it didn't work...ugh. :P) Of course, I didn't have a clue what to do with editing so you basically get raw video footage of me being clueless and rambly and tired. You're welcome.

*laughs uncertainly because I look really weird in the thumbnail*

A few things I forgot to mention: I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow (my first well visit in like, six years *sheepish smile*) that I'm really nervous about. Many of you are probably aware of my fear of needles...and I just feel like I'll probably need shots and I'M LOWKEY FREAKING OUT. O_o I...can't handle needles.

I also have a super secret project that I'm working on. It may or may not involve books. But you'll have to wait to find out. *whistles innocently* It's going to take a long time to complete, and it might not actually work out? I HOPE IT DOES. Anyway, look out for a post about that sometime this winter/early spring.

I was going to put something else in this post, but I spent so long trying to figure out the video that I don't have time to spare. Bother. Hope this wasn't too much of a bore. ;)

Are you as excited as I am about fall? Any editing software you would recommend for videos? (I NEED TECH HELP PLEASE.) What have you been reading lately?

  1. Those righthand turns are evil though, omw.

Whoa! Looks like you have a ton coming up in the next few weeks/months, be sure to remember to eat and sleep!

As far as editing software goes, I have no clue, but google might have a few suggestions, or maybe search YouTube.

  2. Oh my goodness, so much going on! I can relate...

Anne of Green Gables--I loooved your review on Goodreads, btw--is something I need to reread! I've only read it once, and that was back in grade 1. (Yes, I was too young to appreciate it, but I was hungry for "big kid books" and liked the superiority I felt with a sizeable classic in hand. XD)

Yay, the Homelanders series! Despite not being your favorites, they ARE exciting, as you said. Also, I totally relate to getting way too many books from the library right when you're super busy!

Speaking of which--let me send you a cyber hug. *hugs* Because I've been stressing myself out too lately, and it's not a great feeling. And as much as I'm a lists person, a go-getter, a high achiever... I'm learning that it's okay to take breaks. I haven't written a word this week so far, which I feel a bit guilty about (especially with the Rooglewood deadline approaching and oh my word thank you for the reminder about the entry form!!!). But I recognize that I've also been studying a lot, so I've let myself relax a little by reading before bed instead. And last night I watched The Lego Ninjago Movie in theatres because why not?

All that rambling to say: there are times to push yourself, because you'll be surprised how much you are actually capable of... and there are times to put a few things aside in order to take care of yourself. I don't know which season it is for you, but whichever it is: IT'S A SEASON. It will pass. In the meantime, remember to breathe. Let your mind and heart and soul breathe. I love you, friend, and as much as I enjoy reading your posts and replies, I care for the person behind the screen much more. So if you need to take a hiatus, I completely understand and support you!

(Oh, and hooray for driving! It can be terrifying at first, I know, but you'll get the hang of it!)

  4. Needle phobia is the absolute worst. I have it too, and with my surgery earlier this year.... oh, it was bad. But you can do this, Mary! You can do it!

  5. Anne of Green Gables is totally awesome! I will say that most people would appreciate it more if they read it when they're older, so I think you picked it up at the right time.

You're a fellow CLEPer!!! Yay! Which one did you do?

Also, driving is awful. At least, I don't enjoy it. I had a reputation during drivers ed for driving up on the curbs, so don't feel too bad.

And I hope that you get back to normal soon, but do be patient with yourself if it doesn't. I'll be praying!

  6. You'll get the hand of driving. I've been in the parking lot a few times with my mom. Today, I actually go to get my restricted license. I'm kind of freaking out, honestly. After I have that, we'll probably practice in the neighborhood. But, I'm also registering to vote, which is also freaking me out because, wow, I have to be an adult now. :D
    *takes deep breath*
Okay, sorry for that ramble. XD
When I first went to the parking lot, I almost hit a curb, too. Bad thing was I actually hit the gas instead of the brake. (Still alive!) XD

Its a bit nerve wracking, but we'll both get the hang of it. Congrats on going driving! :D

    Needles are horrible.
I will be looking forward to your surprise post. :D

  7. I know what you mean about doctors. I broke my arm and finally got dragged to the emergency care by parents like five days later...I can't stand going there.

Driving is fine. It's the other people you have to watch out for. :) And just keep an eye on the road. Don't take risks. You can do it!

UM, THAT IS MY LIFE. I am ecstatic for the colder weather and rain because BLANKETS and FUZZY SOCKS and ALL THE LAYERS and TEA.
*deep breath* In case you can't tell, I am in love with fall.

  9. IT'S A MARY VLOG! I LOVE WHEN YOU DO THESE!!! :D And you added a fancy intro. I love it!

Woooow, your life sounds so crazy right now. o.O I would love, love, LOVE for you to do NaNo but goodness, I don't want you killing yourself. If you need a blogging/writing break, you should take one! Just do whatever will help you the most. It sounds like your plate is FULL, and taking care of yourself right now is the most important thing. We all understand that!

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES!!!!!!!!!! I think I was...16? when I read them for the first time. I devoured the whole series and just AAAAHHHHH! I LOVED THEM SO MUCH. The first book will always be my favorite, but the others were good too. They, like, changed my life. o.O It's just the kind of story that stays with you forever.

I NEED the Accidental Pirate series. NEED. It sounds juuuust up my alley!

Anyways! I loved this whole video. I do so hope whether you choose to keep writing or take a break or whatever you do, it'll all go well! Be kind to yourself, okay? *hugs*

Also, I hope the doctors appointment went okay today! You poor thing. Those are so not fun. Ugh.

Also, also, NOW I'M SUPER CURIOUS ABOUT THIS SUPER SECRET PROJECT INVOLVING BOOKS. Way to keep us in suspense! *flails*

Praying for you, girl! I hope your October is absolutely spectacular! <333

  10. Haha, I'm sure driving will start to come more naturally! XD I know my first time driving was...well, it was a little scary, to say the least. And then the first time driving alone...I almost hit a horde of raccoons. So. That's fun. XD But you're doing just fine! ^_^

  12. Ack, yeah, driving is scary :P I'm still not used to it but my test is at the end of the month *hides under bed*

Windows movie maker is a really good program for video editing. It's pretty simple and completely free. :)
