Book Photo Shoot ~ Part 1

Recently, I've really gotten into book photography. And since I teased you guys about it a few weeks ago, I knew you all wouldn't rest easy until I shared the glorious pictures from my bookish photo shoots with you. You're welcome in advance.

(And yes, I have so many pictures that there will be another part sometime in the future. Oops. :P)

Super creepy. O.o

A sample of my vintage collection. One of the books
in the stack is a math book from the 1800s.

My OCD side is kicking in right now because there isn't
a perfect circle like I had hoped...ah, well.

My giveaway prizes! Aren't they beautiful?? You can thank
my lovely friend Morgan. ^_^

My Batson books. So colorful. <3

(We're totally ignoring the fact that the page I randomly picked
for this picture involves someone getting stabbed
by a thorn. Hehe. :P)
Looks like you made it to the end. Here, have a picture of my adorable cat Patches.

The Queen in all her glory.

Oh, and just a reminder! If you haven't already checked it out, author Rachel Starr Thomson is holding a Kindle Paperwhite and Christian fantasy book giveaway over HERE. There's only 1 week left to enter! Be amazing bookdragons and do yourselves a favor. 'Cause you seriously don't want to miss out on this.

Did you enjoy my photography? (I know I enjoyed showing it off. ;D) Which picture did you like the best? Oh, and are any of you into bookish photography? If so, I want to see the evidence. *nods*

Thank you, Morgan! And yes, I adore vintage books! Imagine my ecstasy at finding a used bookstore with entire sections devoted to vintage books. (I about blew all my money there. XD)

  5. Lovely photos, Mary!! You did such a good job--I'm not really very good at photography, myself, but I love seeing other people's work :-)

My favorite is definitely the fourth from the top--the one with the flower petal. So pretty! :-)

    1. Thank you, Jessica! Most of my photos don't turn out this well. I guess I just sometimes get great subjects. *grins*

Ooh, I like that one! I did some more flower petal photography which I will probably share in part 2!

EXCUSE ME WHILE I DROWN IN ALL THE BEAUTY. *diiiies*

    MARY.
    YOU ARE SO TALENTED.
LIKE LIKE LIKE THESE ARE SO PROFESSIONAL.
I AM SIMPLY DROWNING. (Probably because I'm drooling so much.)
    THESE PICTURES.
    THESE BOOKS.
    HALP.

    But seriously, Mary.
    So. Much. Talent.
I could stare at these for an eternity and a half!

I think my favorites would be the 4th one (with the flower petal) and the Batson ones. SO MANY PRETTY COLORS. And then that last one. Just wow! But but but I LOVE THEM ALL OKAY.

I adore your vintage collection! I have a little carousel horse in my room toooo. My mom found it at a rummage sale for me and I love it to death! It'll definitely be a prop in many of my bookish photos as well!

I think it's the best and most hilarious thing ever that we both suddenly discovered this love for book photography. But it's so funnnn! Yet another good excuse to play with books. *grins*

Anyways, I'm blabbering. BUT THESE PICS ARE SO GORGEOUS. *pets pictures* Also your cat! She's so adorable! <333

    I cannot wait for part 2! :D :D :D

HOW ARE YOU SO NICE??? LOL, my pictures are anything but professional. But I'm still pretty happy with how they turned out. ^_^

Yesss, I'm in love with all the colors, too! But I also got carried away with the black-and-white. I'M SUCH A CONTRADICTORY DRAGON. XD (Can I just say again that your comment is making me grin so hard??)

*le gasp* You do?! That's awesome! My sister found mine at a flea market. Methinks it will be in many more photo shoots to come. ^_^ And now I'm dying to see YOUR carousel horse!

We are such braintwins! XD BUT REALLY, HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE BOOK PHOTOGRAPHY? It's just the bestest. <3

Awk, I ADORE your blabbering! :D I'M JUST FLAILING OVER HERE BECAUSE OF YOUR SWEET COMMENT. I can't tell you enough how much I love you and your comments. :)

  8. These are lovely!! I think it's funny how the lighting is all happy and bright (which, it's amazing lighting by the way), but then how Watchers in the Woods is such a contrast. XD Also, one of my favorite series. It is awesome.

  9. Ooh, lovely photos!

My favorite would have to be that one of the 'love' locket on the page about the stabbing. :P

I am a photographer, but I haven't experimented much with book photography yet. Excited to try, though! :)

LOL, I quite like that one, too. Though I prooobably could have chosen a better page. XD

Ooh, that's awesome! I'm not much of a photographer, but there are those rare occasions when my pictures actually look decent. I hope you enjoy experimenting! :)

  10. AAAAAAHHH THESE ARE AMAZING!!!! :D :D :D Seriously, so so gorgeous... you have TALENT, girl! O___O Book photography is so fuuuuun, even though I can never think of interesting ways to take pictures of them and usually just... take a picture of the book sort of lying there. :P #lame BUT YOURS ARE SO CREATIVE AND I LOVE THEM. I could just stare at these forever. :D My favorites are the heart pages one (that looks like some professional thing one would find on Pinterest! O_O ...Actually most of these do...) and the Wayne Thomas Batson books. Also the ones arranged in a circle! GAAHH I JUST LOVE THEM ALLL. ^_^ Thanks for sharing these, book pictures are the absolute BEST! <3

  11. OHMIGOODNESS, THESE ARE SO GOOOOOD. And so creative too! Like Deborah mentioned, it's hard sometimes to think of creative ways to arrange things, but you obviously have tons of brilliant ideas! (And you must have a good camera too. So professional. *drools*) The second picture might be one of my favorites. <3 And in number three, what's the book at the bottom of the stack? I was trying to figure that out. XD

    1. You guys are really stunning me with your niceness. THANK YOU, DEAR! I'm actually really surprised they turned out. XD (And I do owe much of the credit to my lovely camera. It makes even my photos look presentable. ;D)

The book in question is The Lost Books collection by Ted Dekker. (It includes Chosen, Infidel, Renegade, and Chaos.) Haven't gotten around to reading them yet, but my friend really enjoyed them. So I'm thinking I must try these books out eventually. *nods*
